hi-5 fever

after getting hooked with fun song factory for almost 1.5 years, djuan is now into hi-5. i couldn't remember when i bought him his first two dvds of this tv show. all i could remember was when we first watched it, the daddy smirked because he saw two macho guys dancing like gays. oh at least that was how he described it. lol. the little boy just ignored this tv show then. he only started liking this show when we went for a 9-day vacation in our house in san jose, nueva ecija. occassional fun song factory and too much thomas the train dvds probably made him like this tv show. hehehe. he first liked the portion wherein charli (the blonde girl in pink) was doing some fast-forward scenes. djuan really liked the speedy moves that he imitated charli doing it. lol. after watching all of the dvds we got over and over and over again, all of us are now hooked with hi-5! of course, djuan loves every bit of this tv show. but his favorites are: crash bang knock them down by nathan (the guy with the curly hair in the middle), chain reaction show (also by nathan) and the energy dance/song (by the whole gang). of course, we have our own favorites. mine are: jumping in the skipping rope by kelly (the girl in purple), animal festival by kathlyn (the girl in yellow), i love you dance/song (by the whole gang). and yes, the daddy has some favorites too (he already accepted the macho guys hehe): working on the road by nathan and in the city/ in the country (by the whole gang). my nephews and nieces also watched this show with djuan. actually they have already memorized most of the songs. lol. aside from the singing and dancing, there's also story-telling in this show. as far as i can remember, djuan started singing with this tv show and he sang the last few words of the ending song. something like "pay err err err, ets uu err errrrr" (five in the air, let's do it together). lol. and i must credit to this show djuan's latest word: energy. probably explains why djuan just loves saying the last word of energy fm's radio id: wag mong sabihing radyo, sabihin mo.... djuan enters and says "energy!". :D

djuan's yaya

this is ate pacita, my cousin, djuan's yaya. she takes good care of djuan at home but whenever we go out, we always leave her behind. for one, she doesn't like riding air-conditioned vehicles. :p second, she is also our all-around help at home so when we leave her home, she still has lots of chores to do. it's one good arrangement for us since we have time just for ourselves. no yaya in tow means privacy. djuan loves ate pacita (we call her tita pacita for djuan) but sometimes he can get pretty rough with her. mind you, we already replaced her eyeglasses twice. good thing, the last time djuan broke her eyeglasses, i saw zenni optical on tv!!! ok, forgive the excitement. lol. i just love love their $ 8 Rx eyeglasses. we got her something like this one...

a big High Five to Zenni Optical! that reminds me, the little boy has been tugging my pants. time to watch hi-5. :D

djuan and his building blocks

djuan's now fond of playing with his building blocks. i guess he is really now a graduate of the everything-gets-straight-to-my-mouth play. hehehe. i was one proudy mommy when he called my attention (i was surfing then) and showed me his accomplishment. my son really is a pleaser. hehehe. he did this tower all by himself (except for the last two layers which i placed for photo op purposes hehehe). here's another one that he did (no modifications from mommy :p).

i really really love this moment with djuan. this made me realize as well that aside from finally getting how to play with the building blocks, djuan also learned now how to smile on the camera. it's just a matter of saying smile and cheese over and over again. and even if i wasn't using the dslr here (my camera phone's shutter speed is uber slow at low lighting), he managed to keep his smile until i finally took a picture of him. :)

this urged me and the daddy to buy him more building blocks to play with. we got him two sets when i was on a shopaholic mode at this newly opened japan surplus toy station in monumento.

we love you baby! more bonding time for us using these new toys. :)

djuan's kiddie bible books

books has been keeping me very busy these days. that's why you won't see me blogging that much in my personal blog and here in my blog for the little boy. aside from books, i've been spending more time with the little boy. he's becoming more and more demanding of mommy these days so i have no choice. :D anyway, i just want to share here some of my good finds at booksale. these books only cost me 65 pesos each. they are really really nice (good as new!) because aside from they are a good steal, i can also fulfill my plan of offering djuan to God. not that i want him to be a priest someday ha. :D i just want my son to live life in a Godly way. here are the books:

these books are really nice. the stories were written to the comprehension level of a kid. the stories are amazing too for an adult like me. the pictures/drawings are also great. djuan loves identifying the animals, objects and people on the pages with me. reading books is really a great bonding time for us. when asked where Jesus is, djuan is happy and proud to point at the man with long hair and black beard wearing white robes. :)

the little boy's college fund

around two weeks ago, the daddy and i opened up a mutual fund account for the little boy's college education. instead of getting an educational plan for him, we just opted to invest in a mutual fund. we heard not so good stories on how the educational plan business in our country goes now. we don't want to join the thousands of parents going after these insurance providers. we just wish them well because two of them are my siblings. oh well. if we had enough spare money to invest, i would have gone for real estate (starting with the foreclosed ones). but since we don't have that money (yet), i guess investing in a rare coin would be a good alternative. we just need our money to appreciate and stand against inflation and make it to the little boy's college fund. :)

happy father's day, daddy yo!

today is father's day, my husband's 3rd celebration as a father himself. djuan and i prepared simple gifts for the daddy. thanks to my fellow nawie plurkers for the hand stamp idea. i couldn't help it. i had to copy. :D anyway, my gift was a parker slinger ballpen. the little boy's gift was a greeting card on which he had his right hand stamped. ;) i used djuan's new set of crayons to write our message to the great daddy. :)

we gave our gifts last night. apparently, it was no longer a surprise to the daddy since he was nosey he checked out the brown gift box which i placed underneath our altar. he still acted surprised though. :p this morning, we went to malabon zoo. we were supposed to go yesterday but we came in just a few minutes before the zoo's closing time. well, good thing we were late and we had to come today. because it's father's day, fathers accompanied with a paying child is free of charge. entrance fee is 120 pesos so we only paid 240 pesos to get in. it's quite pricey for a short trip to a small zoo. i just thought i was giving mother nature a tribute. :D

our timing was just right because when we came in, marimar, the female orangutan in diapers, was having her meet and greet. i had to pay extra 90 pesos though (30/pax) so we could have our picture taken with her. it was worth it anyway. :)

we were proud of the little boy since he didn't get scared unlike the other kid who was forced by his parents to have a picture with the orangutan. :( see, he was even making face at the picture above. hehehe.

we got amazed when we learned how the orangutan caregiver talked to marimar. he wasn't speaking in english, not even in tagalog. the sweet orangutan understands her babysitter in visayan dialect. she was being instructed with tindog (stand up) and lingkod (sit down). the caregiver was even calling her 'day (short for inday - a filipina name, commonly used in visayas). hehehe.

had i not been with my boys, i would be bored in that zoo. the animals there looked dead. see for yourself...

a bear, a lion and a boar. all dead. lol. nah, of course they were just sleeping. :p there were moving animals too. hehehe.

we also watched the big fishes (from argentina?) being fed with small fishes. it was a very short show though. djuan wasn't even paying attention. hehehe. we roamed around and saw more animals: crocodile, deer, different species of fish, tiger, kalaw (the one at djuan's blurry background in the picture above), orangutan (older than marimar), pythons and some small animals i couldn't remember coz we didn't even bother to stop and check them out. :D we also went to a garage in the zoo where other species of birds and fish can be seen. we were amazed with the two talking parrots. the first one was shouting panget (ugly). the other one was too naughty and smart. it sounded like a real man, i wonder if it was just being dubbed. hehehe. that parrot knows how to speak "don't cry!" and "buh-bye". it even said tado (stupid/foolish) and evilly laughed. scary and funny. lol. and that was it coz daddy doc has sunday duty at the nearby clinic. happy father's day, daddy! djuan and i love you so much. the malabon zoo trip was quite short but we sure had fun. we're definitely not coming back there (hehehe). maybe manila zoo next time? :D

God was with Djuan on Mother's day eve

happy mother's day to all the super mommies out there! special mention to my nanay, my sisters, my sisters-in-law and all my girl friends (including my online mommy buddies). for me, this is just an ordinary day since it's a sunday and the husband would have to go to work. so it's a regular day of being a full time yaya to my little boy who's growing up so fast! good thing that when we say baby, he still points at himself. so he's still a baby as long as we can hold on to him being a baby. :D last night, mother's day eve, was more eventful to me. saturday is our family day. it's the time we spend the whole day together. some times just the three of us but most of the time, we attend to some friend's parties and of course, we drop by my in-law's place so they could see the little boy. saturday was once again packed of activities for us that when we came home at night we were all exhausted. but since djuan is still, yeah, a baby, he's exempted from tidying up our messy room (which we actually messed up as soon as we arrived). i went outside of our room just to drink some water (gosh, it was freaking hot that day). when i went back into our room... tada, the husband was already playing dota online. and i was so very pissed just looking at him (like i have a teenager for a son) and well, yeah, our very messy room. i was upfront to say i was upset but lo and behold, i was told i would have to wait because the game wasn't over yet. and that was it, i said i was leaving and so i grabbed my purse, the car keys and stormed out of the room. i opened our garage by myself and stepped into the car. but before i managed to get into the car, damn my havaianas gave up on me (crap!!! the pink havaianas the husband gave to me as welcome home gift!). i threw my flip flops at the back seat and grabbed another pair of slippers lying on the car floor. then, as i was about to start the car, i saw a familiar little head beside the car's hood. it was djuan! he was all smiling and he was standing near the front wheel. apparently he followed me as soon as i got out of the room. my heart melted when i saw him and goose bumps were all over me. i realized, had i insisted starting the car and holding on to the anger with my husband, i could have run over my son. just the thought of it now while writing this makes me teary eyed. i believe God was indeed with djuan when that happened. He took out the rage in me. i could have hurt my son. i could have hurt myself. i could have hurt my husband by hurting our son and myself. i could have hurt everybody. i backed out from my impulsive decision, closed the gates, grabbed my son and went back into our room. the husband realized what happened and embraced me while i was crying and praying silently. i reached out to djuan and kissed him and embraced him. and then i kissed and made up with my husband. God loves us, that's what matters that night.

***
no, this isn't an entry to the chicken soup for the soul book. but this is a real story and it's my own story. :) the chicken soup for the soul book (for moms and sons) picture is here in this post since it's my husband's gift for me on mother's day. yes, the very same mother's day when i stormed off on its eve. oh well, that's over now. although i'm still not so over with the online gaming issue. i dunno how long would i have to live with that. boys don't really grow up. so remember that if you wanna get married soon. :p
